  • Job Description

    Our client, a Japanese chemical manufacturing company, is currently seeking a Chemist/Chemical Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and controlling the lab polymerization facilities. This role involves designing and optimizing polymer materials, as well as supporting production processes, including scale-up, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

    【Responsibilities】
    - Design and synthesize new polymers with desired properties for various applications.
    - Conduct experiments to explore the relationship between polymer structure and its physical and chemical characteristics.
    - Analyze and interpret data from techniques such as spectroscopy, chromatography, and thermal analysis to characterize polymers.
    - Develop and optimize production processes to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.
    - Troubleshoot issues during mass production and propose effective solutions.
    - Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure smooth integration of new polymers into existing production lines.
    - Perform tests to evaluate mechanical, thermal, electrical, and other properties of polymers.
    - Assess the suitability of polymers for specific applications.
    - Modify polymer formulations based on performance requirements.
    - Document research findings and experimental procedures in clear, concise reports.
    - Present research results to colleagues, management, or external stakeholders.
    - Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and address challenges.
    - Provide training on new products and process modifications to relevant teams.
    - Train new lab staff on basic laboratory knowledge and procedures.
    - Ensure safe operation and maintain 5S standards in the laboratory.
    - Manage lab work planning and scheduling.
    - Oversee equipment management, including spare parts and maintenance.
    - Maintain and manage the chemical inventory.

Qualifications

    【Requirements & Preferences】

    (Must)
    - A Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Synthesis Chemistry, or a related field.
    - At least 3 years of relevant experience as a Chemist.
    - Strong understanding of material hazards from SDS and Singapore regulations, with the ability to provide appropriate instructions.
    - Basic knowledge and practical experience in conducting chemical experiments.
    - In-depth knowledge of polymerization mechanisms and kinetics.
    - Expertise in polymer characterization and evaluation techniques.
    - Proficient in operating spectroscopy, chromatography, and thermal analysis equipment.

    (Advantageous)
    - Experience working in Japanese companies.
